Glymm box review

Hope everyone had a pleasant week so far. I have a bit on time on my hands today so I am going to do a review on my first Glymm box.

First off, product list and how much the full sizes are, here’s a scan of the card that came with my box.

Here is what I received:
Lucia Soap No. 1 – 1 soap $2.19
Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Fragrance – Doesn’t tell me the amount so let’s say 2.5mL so $5.00
Free your mane – Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner – 7.5mL x 2 = 14mL $0.75
Mai Couture Social Gloss – Full size $28.00
NuMe - $100 gift card

Total: $135.94

My verdict: Not bad considering I paid $10. It’s nice that they threw in a “bonus” being the NuMe gift card – a company that sells professional styling tools & hair extensions. That’s great – but the problem is everything on that website is so expensive! The price for a hair curler is $135 and let me tell you guys, with shipping ($15) adds up to $150 minus gift card = $50. I won’t even pay that much for a hair curler so no, I won’t be using this card. If any of you guys want to check this website out go, click here. The code is: NUME100.

I haven’t tried any of their other products yet. Mainly because I don’t use lipgloss and soap dries out my skin like crazy! Haha, I sound like a diva. But let me assure, I am not! Anyway, I am disappointed. I don’t know why I had such high expectation. I will continue for another month and see how it goes.

Have you tried any of these products? Hope everyone is doing well! I can’t wait for the weekend!

***update*** I tried the shampoo & conditioner this morning and I love it! My hair is very soft and silky feeling. But would I pay that price for it? Probably not. I wish the sample size had more than just 7.5mL per package because I have VERY THICK hair and it's really long (down to my back) so yes, that sample wasn't enough for my massive mane haha

Make-up monthly review box!

Right when I am about to start studying I hear some noise outside my house. Being the creeper that I am I peeked out my window and took a picture. * GASP * It’s the mailman and he has NAIL MAIL for me! There goes my motivation to study. Out the window!

So here it is, my second make-up monthly box. If you haven’t heard of make-up monthly, it’s like many of the beauty boxes on the market and you have 3 choices (nail club, cosmetic club or beauty care club) for $20 a month. If you want to see what I got the first month you can read about it here.

This month, I received 3 full size nail polish, 2 OPI and 1 Essie. I am quite happy with the Essie because I've been meaning to buy a new black but this just saved me the trip but the two OPI's are very generic. At first glance, I thought it was OPI Pedal Faster Suzi. I paid for a 3-month subscription so I will most likely not continue after my 3 months especially because the colours seems to be so dated.

OPI Dozen Rosas and All That Razz-Berry and Essie Licorice

Anyway, must study. Oh, I also got my first Glymm box today but I will do a review on it after my finals. Do you sign up for any beauty boxes? If so, which one and do you like it?

Thanks for reading!

How to keep your nail polish fresh!

It’s frustrating when you spend so much money on little bottles of goodness and they gunk up on you or they’re sealed shut after a few use. Here are a few tips and tricks on how to keep your nail polish fresh for longer!

1. I know that many of us has heard that if our nail polish gunk up, just drip a few drops of nail polish remover in it and voila! It’s gunk free! I’m not going to lie, I’ve done this many times but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I learned that, that is a complete no-no! Adding nail polish remover in your polishes will decrease the bond between the polish and your nail. What you should to is purchase nail polish thinner and that should do the trick.

2. Store your nail polishes away from direct heat and sunlight. When polish is exposed to heat, they thicken and become difficult to apply. An optimal location is somewhere cool and dry.

3. How about storing them in the fridge? I’ve heard people storing it in the fridge. I personally do not do it, but keep in mind that when you’re ready to use it, rub it between your palms so it will be easier to apply.

4. Do not shake your nail polish before you apply it! This cause air bubbles in the polish and once you put it on, a little bugger might end up on your perfect mani! Instead, roll it gently between your palms. If you must shake it (because it’s thick or you need to mix the colours), do it then let it sit for 30 minutes so all the air bubble can rise.

5. Cap stuck on? Take a cup (preferably ones that you don’t/won’t use anymore) and pour enough nail polish remover so that when you put your nail polish upside down in it, it will cover the cap. The dried up nail polish making your cap stuck on should loosen up.

6. Want to avoid your cap being stuck on in the future? Apply some petroleum jelly around the neck of the bottle. This will prevent it from drying and caking up on the neck/cap.

7. Nail polishes usually last around 2 years. So be realistic and toss the old ones out. I’ve tried salvaging old ones but end up making a big mess!

I hope this helps! Are there any tips and tricks you guys use? Do share :D !! Thanks for reading!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend and is well rested for another week starting tomorrow and jealous of those who have it off! Nothing much on my end. Broke a few nails so I only have tree stumps now and am too embarrassed to share those with you :( but what I do want to share is this new (well, I don't know if it's considered new) fad that's going around about SpectraFlair. It originated from the auto industry - a pigment that they use to spray the cars? I'm not sure but what you can do once you get your hands on them is add them to any top coat or polishes and BAM you get holographic nail polish! I am having trouble locating this and am wondering if any of you lovely readers have heard of them/know where to buy them and point me to the right direction? That would be much appreciate! In the meantime, I am working on growing my nails out (very slow and painful process) I had to trim them all down and they're so short! I'm testing out Barielle Natural Health Nails product and see how that goes. Anyone tried it before? Anyway, wish me luck! <3

Julep Maven's April Box

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well! It's Friday and I have the day off today! :3 So I am taking this time to review my Julep Maven's April Box! First off, here is what I received in my box and their description from Julep:

Best Pedi Cream Ever! ($22) Exfoliates with alpha hydroxy acids, hydrates with shea butter and coconut oil, nourishes with vitamin E. Apply nightly for noticeable results in just 1 to 2 uses.

Alyson Nail Polish ($14) Almond creme featured on all the runways for spring. The new neutral.
Molly Nail Polish ($14) Classic red, updated. Looks great on all skin tones.
Toes separators and a few chocolate eggs

My take on this box: I haven't tried the "Best Pedi Cream Ever!" but I am definitely looking forward to that. Summer is around the corner and flip flop season is coming so must have cute soft feet. As for the polishes, this is a very nice nude that does compliment my skin tone rather making it look like I have lobster hands! And the red is simply amazing! I've been looking for a bold red polish with no luck. I am happy with my box this month. If you guys are interested in trying out Julep Maven, consider using my referral link here and use the code "Color2012" and get your first month for $0.01! Forgot to mention one thing, I am supposed to receive a bag along with my box but they forgot so it'll be coming a bit later. I hope I could put that to good use! Thanks for reading and happy weekend!

[POTD] Essie - On the Edge

I love Essie. I love Essie colours. I love their cute bottles. BUT what I don't love about them is putting on 3 coats to reach some what opacity! Either way, I'll still be buying their nail polishes cause I love them. I'm such a sucker. This is a gorgeous dark grey packed with shimmery silver flecks. Reminds me of tungsten for some reason... It goes on nicely but I do have some bald patches and when I hold my hand up to the sun/light I can see streaks (which makes me angry lol). Nonetheless, I love this colour. Here's a shot in the sun.

What are your favourite Essie colours?
